Building On Success
DCHS Capital Campaign Participation Opportunities

LOBBY - $400,000 Sold
A warm welcome enhances the visitors’ first impression of DCHS. We are very pleased to have first-time guests or old friends drop in to share stories of adopted pets. The Adoption Specialist at the front desk will be happy to talk about the animals available to go to forever homes, and show visitors around the shelter.
EXTERIOR ENTRY COVERED PATIO - $250,000
The anticipation grows as families approach the shelter. Is this the day we meet "our" dog? Or, after dropping off these donated supplies, will there be some kittens we can hold?
EDUCATION ROOM - $150,000
One of the most significant reasons for shelter expansion is to increase community interaction. This new learning space enables DCHS staff and outside professionals to host seminars or invite school groups to learn more about care of companion animals. Finally, we would have the capability to involve kids under age 18 by way of fun volunteer activities.
VOLUNTEER CENTER - $75,000
The linchpin of our day-to-day operation is the group of selfless volunteers who clean cat quarters, walk dogs in the middle of winter, assist at fundraising events, and help potential adopters find just the right pets for their home life. Now volunteers have a place to leave coats, change out of soiled clothes, and to meet with the Outreach Coordinator to learn news of the Shelter.
VESTIBULES (2 total) - $75,000 each
Enter through the double doors into a calm and caring facility.
CONFERENCE ROOM - $75,000
The veterinarians who donate such valuable knowledge will now have a place to sit down with the kennel and cattery coordinators to instruct about new “best practices”. This is the peaceful place the Executive Director can meet regularly with the staff to keep communications flowing. The Board of Directors has a location for making decisions that move the shelter forward in a logical and fundible way.
CAT COLONIES AND PUPPY NURSERY (6 total) - $50,000 each (2) Sold
One of the best changes to the new Door County Humane Society is the freedom our animals will have to really be themselves. We plan (4) cat colonies, (1) scampering kitten play area, and (1) puppy nursery where pups can be whelped, weaned and cared for in a clean, quiet area with Mom.
ADOPTION ROOMS (2 total) - $50,000 each
The places where smiles are born and relationships bloom. If there was one magical location in all the shelter, this would be it. Families get to meet their potential new best friends, and spend all the time it takes to get to know each other. This is a big decision for everyone, and these rooms will provide both calm atmosphere and lots of toys!
LIBRARY - $35,000
Reference material - both printed and video - is key to the inservice training of staff and volunteers. This endowment will allow us to purchase instructional material for staff and loaner copies for adopters.
INTAKE EXAM ROOM - $25,000 Sold
When a new animal comes in to DCHS - from Sturgeon Bay Police Dept, a concerned citizen, or a motorist who spotted a lost animal alongside the road - one of the most critical first steps is assessing the overall condition. Any acute wounds or possible contagious condition that requires quarantine? What is the weight? How are the eyes and feet? This fully-equipped room, with stainless steel furnishings, will enable staff members to be extremely thorough when making Intake decisions.
INTAKE DOG KENNELS (10 total) - $10,000 each (1) Sold
Scared, thirsty, confused - that’s a lost dog under the best conditions. Often they are also full of nettles and burrs, half-frozen, and desperately thin. Intake kennels are individual enclosures structured to keep stress at a minimum. Each is set up with soft bedding, bowls of water and dry food, and a soft toy and treats.
STAFF OFFICES (5 total) - $5,000 each (3) Sold
Overseeing animal care, answering questions from an average of 75 callers daily, ensuring that all staff positions are filled from 6am to 9pm, following the day-to-day activities of cattery and kennel personnel, looking up past adoption records for vet offices, interacting with other Wisconsin animal care groups, encouraging our community partners in planning fundraising activities, preparing for visits to schools, and coordinating with volunteers, updating the www.dooranimals.com website with photos and profiles of adoptable friends…just a very short list of what keeps DCHS staff busy.
NAME PLAQUES (100 total) - $1,000 each (16) Sold
Each plaque will be a vote of confidence and support for the work of the Door County Humane Society. They will be displayed in the vestibules and lobby area of the shelter.
