The Door County Humane operates 365 days per year, 24 hours per day, because of the private donations we receive. Less than 5% of our total annual budget comes from public sources so gifts from individuals and private foundations are our lifeblood. There are numerous ways to help keep open the DCHS doors as the only animal care facility in the community...will you help us?
- Contribute now through PAYPAY
- Become a Humane Hero with options for both monthly and annual contributions
- Fill the gap between the revenue received and operations costs for one day by Sponsoring A Day. Celebrate a birthday, remember a beloved friend, or mark an anniversary by selecting and sponsoring your special day for $250.00.
- Make it possible for DCHS to continue and enlarge our animal welfare work by contributing to the Capital Campaign.
- Become a member.
- Estate planning with Door County Community Foundation.
- Establish your own DCHS fundraising page at www.yourcause.com.
However you choose to support our work, we are deeply grateful. Our Executive Director Carrie Counihan will be pleased to talk with you regarding gifts for specific purposes or to answer questions. Your donation always will be acknowledged in writing for your records.

Simple Ways to Help
Viewing our wishlist of items we most need and dropping them off at the Shelter can make a huge difference to us; we receive donations from companies when we turn in collections of the following items: Aluminum cans (no tin cans please,) receipts from Econofoods, old cell phones. Please keep us in mind when discarding these items! Also, please make us your charity of choice at Pick n Save.
Shop at IGIVE to help raise money for DCHS!
Use Goodsearch when you search.
Put DCHS in as your selected cause and help raise money for the shetler!

Volunteer
We are currently recruiting volunteers in a variety of areas including adoption specialists, kennel cleaning, fundraising, summer events, and mailings. Please give us a call if you are interested or download a volunteer application from the Volunteer Section of the website. The volunteer coordinator may be reached at the shelter, 746-1111, extension 5.
