Surrender Your Cat or Dog to DCHS

Surrender Your Pet at the Door County Humane SocietyWe understand that life circumstances change or that situations arise that require a family to surrender their beloved cat or dog to a shelter.

If you are facing such a situation and live in Door County, DCHS may be able to help. Call DCHS at 920-746-1111 to speak with our Assistant Animal Care Coordinator or our Kennel Coordinator. They will ask you a few questions about your pet; if possible, have your vet records at hand for reference.

Once the surrender is approved, we’ll call to set up an appointment for you to bring your cat or dog to DCHS. Note: During mid-late summer and early fall DCHS’s cat population skyrockets because of kitten season, and we are typically near or at capacity. You may be put on a wait list if you need to surrender your cat to DCHS during these times. As soon as space opens up, we will call you to set up an appointment.

The surrender fee is $25 dollars for cats and dogs.
